Aug. 31, 2010 We have completed the cement deck for the dog pools today. The "big dog" side will closed for 5-7 days to allow the cement to cure (lose moisture) so that we can apply a sealant which will help stop algae and mold on the cement surface. Once the sealant is applied, will be able to open the "big dog" side several hours later. It is going to be really nice having two pools and no mess.

We are in the process of having three weather-proof faucets installed at the Dog Park. This will mean that we never have to shut off the water in the winter any longer! Once the new faucets are installed, we will create two large cement pads next to the faucet at the front entrance to hold the two plastic pools for the dogs. The cement pads will give us better drainage. These improvements are courtesy of YOU, our beloved Dog Park members! Thanks.

We have begun spreading mulch. Unfortunately, the mulch deliveries have been very slow. We still have half the park to go. Once we have mulch the section, we can do the grand opening. We are now in the process of looking for the materials for the seating area for the park expansion. Soon we will be looking for volunteers to help construct the seating pavilion.

We will be having a volunteer work day on Saturday, September 25 from 8:00 AM to noon. We are an ALL volunteer park, so we need you! Bring gloves, pruning shears, garden rake, weedeater.

Canine aggression is the most common behavioral problem that veterinarians see and now new research is finding that the aggressive behavior may be the result of depression. We just had a situation where one of our Peachtree City Dog Park Association member families lost their dog. We sent out a mass email "LOST DOG ALERT" and the dog was recovered. Luckily, the owner had an excellent photo of the dog. Remember also, if your dog has distinctive markings that are clearly visible, take digital photos of those as well. Those photos might just help you get your dog back.

Oh that hurts! A third of pet-owning married women in the U.S. said their pets are better listeners than their husbands, according to an Associated Press-Petside.com poll released Wednesday. The drainage area are finished. The gravel has been laid on the service road/drain field. Currently, we are waiting for our suppliers of wood chips to dump at least 30 loads in the expansion area. We will spread those chips to create a nice base. We will look at trying to begin the covered seating area around late August.

Actually "mortise and tenon" is a form of joinery for building things with wood. Our new seating pavilion (sounds fancy because it is) will be made using mortise and tenon joins - no nails. Will it come crashing down to the ground? The Amish still build homes and barns this way. Their structures last for centuries! Well this is your chance to be part of this exciting project as we need volunteers.
