4th Of July ParadeCalling all patriotic dogs and their owners!!! We need YOU for the 4th of July parade. Volunteers are needed to ride on our float with your well-behaved dog. We also need volunteers who are not walking with a dog to throw out candy and act as "spotters" next to the float. If you can't make the parade, you can still help us. We need helpers to decorate the float on July 3rd. If you are interested in any of these fun opportunities, please contact Joan Roman at treasurer@ptcdogpark.com for further infomation. ***ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A FREE PEACHTREE CITY DOG PARK T-SHIRT TO WEAR IN THE PARADE*** **If you would like your dog to participate, the dog must be leashed at all times. Also, please be sure your dog is not timid around large crowds, loud noises and children. The parade route has a lot of activity that could easily startle a "Nervous Nellie." The parade begins at 9:00 a.m. on Peachtree Parkway South, ending at the Recreation Complex on McIntosh Trail. Participants should be ready at the starting point (near Braelinn Golf Course) by 8 am the day of the parade. (read more)
New Park Improvements Are On The WayThank you for helping the Dog Park! On behalf of the new Peachtree City Dog Park Association Board of Directors, I want to thank everyone for the show of support for our latest projects. Our park relies totally on volunteers like you to succeed. The new entry path to the park has been installed and it looks great. We will see sections of the path paved with asphalt throughout the summer. The service entrance to the new expansion site adjacent to park has also been improved. This will allow the trucks carrying wood chips to access to the expansion area. And speaking of the park expansion project, we have over 50% of the funding collected. A special “thank you” is extended to everyone who has made a donation toward the park expansion through the Adopt-A-Fence program so far. For a $100 donation, your family can pay tribute to your beloved dog(s) or memorialize a former dog with a green placard attached to your section of fence. Each Adopt-A-Fence donation brings us closer to installing the fence for the new expansion. (Don’t forget, your donations are tax deductible!) Because we have a wonderful assortment of mature trees on the expansion site, providing much needed shade during the summer, we want to complete the fence project soon. Please ask your friends to contribute to this worthy project (click here for more details). We want to hear your thoughts and ideas. ABOUT THE PARK Our fenced off-leash park is located on two acres in the heart of Peachtree City and is open to local residents. It has a wood chipped base, trees and a gazebo for shade, and cleared areas for free running of the dogs. There is approximately 1 3/4 acres which is recommended for dogs over 30 pounds, the remaining in a separate fenced in area for small and senior dogs only. We now have a water fountain, but you may want to bring a water bowl. (Patrons from outside of Fayette County are allowed as dues paying association members only (see this website for association membership information).)
MISSION STATEMENT The Peachtree City Dog Park Association is a 501 (c) 3, all volunteer organization dedicated to providing residents with an off leash park for dogs. We strive to create a safe, secure, fenced area for dogs to play and socialize. The Association will promote responsible dog ownership and community education through our events and meetings. (Patrons from outside of Fayette County are allowed as dues paying association members only (see this website for association membership information).)
